Fufu is the quintessential West African swallow — a smooth, stretchy dough that serves as the perfect vehicle for rich, flavorful soups. Plantain fufu, made from dried green plantains, offers a slightly sweet, distinctive flavor that pairs exceptionally well with light soups and pepper soups. In many West African homes, the act of making fufu together is a family affair, with everyone taking turns pounding or stirring. This instant version brings that tradition to your table in minutes.
Dried plantain flour (100% green plantains). No additives, no preservatives, no artificial colors.
Method 1 (Stovetop): Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Gradually add 1 cup of plantain fufu flour while stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon. Continue stirring over low heat for 3-5 minutes until smooth and stretchy. Shape into balls.
Method 2 (Quick): Mix flour with cold water to form a paste. Add boiling water while stirring until you reach desired consistency.
Serve with: Egusi soup, Ogbono soup, Light soup, Palm nut soup, Groundnut soup, or any West African soup of your choice.
