Ogbono (wild mango seeds) produces one of West Africa's most distinctive soups — thick, slimy, and absolutely delicious. The seeds come from the African wild mango tree (Irvingia gabonensis) found in the tropical forests of Nigeria and Cameroon. Ogbono soup's signature "draw" (stretchy, mucilaginous texture) is what makes it so satisfying with any swallow. In Igbo tradition, a woman who makes perfect ogbono soup is considered an excellent cook.
Ground wild mango seeds (Irvingia gabonensis). 100% natural, no additives.
For Ogbono Soup: Dissolve 3-4 tablespoons of ground ogbono in a small amount of warm palm oil to form a paste. Add to your stock pot with palm oil. Stir continuously as it thickens. Add cooked meat, fish, stockfish, and crayfish. Finish with leafy greens (spinach or bitter leaf). Season to taste.

For Ogbono-Egusi Mix: Combine equal parts ogbono and egusi for a rich, thick soup with the best of both worlds.

Serve with: Pounded yam, eba (garri), fufu, or amala.

Tip: Always stir ogbono in one direction to achieve the smoothest, most consistent draw.
