Yellow ogi is made from yellow maize or millet, giving it a richer, more robust flavour than its white counterpart. In northern Nigeria and across the Sahel, ogi made from millet (known as kunu) is a deeply traditional breakfast. The golden colour and slightly nuttier taste make this variety particularly popular for pairing with savoury accompaniments.

Thaw and mix with cold water to form a smooth paste. Add boiling water gradually while stirring to achieve desired consistency. Can be made thin as a drink or thick as porridge. Serve with sugar and milk for breakfast, or pair with akara, moin-moin, or kosai. Also used as a base for kunu drink.
