Ijebu gari is a premium variety of gari originating from the Ijebu region of Ogun State, Nigeria. Known for its fine, crispy texture and slightly sour taste, Ijebu gari is considered the gold standard among gari varieties. It's the preferred choice for gari soakings — a beloved Nigerian snack where gari is soaked in cold water with sugar, groundnuts, and sometimes coconut or milk. For gari soakings: Add gari to a bowl of cold water, stir, and drain excess water. Add sugar, roasted groundnuts, evaporated milk, and diced coconut to taste.
